The Melrose Park Rider is today celebrating its first birthday after the completion of over 16,000 successful passenger journeys.

It was introduced in March 2019 by PAYCE, the developer of the Melrose Park North urban renewal project, to supplement existing transport links.

Following feedback from local residents it was extended to the Meadowbank Ferry Wharf.

PAYCE Director Dominic Sullivan said the milestone proved there is demand for a service which connects communities with other major transport options.

“Over the past seven months, the service has proven to be very popular and to date is averaging around 400 passengers each week who enjoy a comfortable and reliable free trip to start and finish their working day,’’ Mr Sullivan said.

“While the service still caters primarily for commuters, it is available to all local residents who may wish to use the service during its operation hours.”
