Kirrawee’s strip of shops on Oak Road North will be part of the Shire’s festive season lighting celebrations again this year with fairy lights to be strung along the tree-lined street, courtesy of support from property development and investment company, PAYCE.

Local businesses on the strip were pleased to learn that PAYCE, who are developing the retail component of the Princes Highway project, will continue with its sponsorship of the lights after receiving positive feedback from last year’s display.

PAYCE Managing Director, Brian Boyd said PAYCE stepped up last year when it learnt that the lights had not been in place for several years due to a lack of funds.

“We talked it over with the shopkeepers and Sutherland Shire Council and everyone was keen to see them back and, as they were so well-received last year, it is our pleasure to keep the tradition alive again this year,” he said.

“Every year, Shire residents and businesses enthusiastically embrace the spirit of Christmas with spectacular lighting displays in their homes and businesses and it’s great that Oak Road North shops can be part of that colourful part of Christmas celebrations,” Mr Boyd said.

PAYCE General Manager, Dominic Sullivan said it was only possible because of the cooperation between all parties who had to give the necessary approvals.

“We are all looking forward to seeing the business strip lit up and to helping the local shopkeepers be part of the festivities,” he said.

“The Shire is quite famous for its wonderful lighting displays by businesses and local residents in their homes throughout the Shire and it all adds to bringing joy and helping convey the magic of Christmas.

“Many people like to drive or walk around the Shire after dark with their friends and families to see the spectacular Christmas lighting displays in local houses, so for the next few weeks they should add Oak Road North to their trip,” Mr Sullivan said.

PAYCE will also be a sponsor of the Gymea Baptist Church Carols by Candlelight event to be held in Seymour Shaw Park on Sunday 13 December.
