Brian Boyd - PAYCE sponsors a new street vs street category in 2014 Brooks Caltex Sutherland2Surf fun run

Mr. Brian Boyd discusses PAYCE Communities sponsorship of the Sutherland2Surf fun run.

Adding special interest to this year's Brooks Caltex Sutherland2Surf (S2S) fun run and walk will be a new 'Street Team' Challenge sponsored by leading Australian property company, PAYCE.

PAYCE is well known in the Sutherland Shire as active supporters and contributors to local community and charity events

As part of the Run's NEW team categories, the PAYCE Street Team Challenge will see entrants from one street compete against entrants from another street in a bid to win the first S2S Street Challenge.

To represent your street, go online to fill out your individual entry form at sutherland2surf.com.au ensuring you also select 'PAYCE Street Team Challenge' from the drop down list in the team category. Once four entrants from the same street register and select the Street Team category, the street will automatically be entered into the street challenge.

PAYCE`s General Manager - Mr Dominic Sullivan explains the Street Team Challenge

Mr Sullivan explained, each street has a team which has to have at least four members, but there is no upper limit on team numbers.

"The fastest four in each team will combine their times to compare with other teams` results," he said.

"The four fastest team members of the winning team will each receive a plaque acknowledging the individual effort for their street."

According to Anita Pryke, Wanda Surf Club President, "This community event has become a legacy of the shire. Each year continuing to attract larger numbers of Sydney's elite athletes who compete for cash prizes, and a mounting number of entrants from the general public. The event has become a popular fun run and walk for the community, inspiring over 8,000 participants and a fun atmosphere shared by family and friends, children and teens and even toddlers in prams."

Sutherland2Surf now in it`s 43rd year - hosted by the Wanda Beach SLSC

This year's Brooks Caltex Sutherland2Surf will be held on Sunday 20th July and will again cover 11 kilometres from Sutherland through Kirrawee, Gymea, Miranda, Caringbah, Cronulla and finish at Wanda where spectators and entrants can enjoy some festive activities prior to the winners presentation ceremony.

The annual event is celebrating its 43rd year and continues to be a major fundraiser for Wanda SLSC, helping the club to continue to provide essential surf lifesaving programs on Wanda Beach. The event is one of Sydney's largest races, a popular run in the lead up to the Sun Herald City to Surf and one of the Shire's biggest community events.

Sutherland2Surf is now one of Sydney`s biggest events on the Sydney athletic calendar

"The PAYCE Street Team Challenge will help attract even more participants, but importantly it is an opportunity for neighbours to get together and race as a team rather than just compete against each other."

Coincidentally, the Brooks Caltex Sutherland2Surf route goes past the former brick pit site in Kirrawee, where PAYCE has plans for a major urban renewal project in the near future that promises to have long-lasting benefits for the whole Shire.

Brian Boyd said his company was looking forward to the project, which will transform a degraded area into a landmark destination, combining residential accommodation with retail and commercial businesses, along with close to one hectare of landscaped community parkland boasting an ornamental lake and children's playground.

"We believe in enhancing local communities and supporting those groups that do outstanding work in bringing communities together and helping those who need help," he said.
