2014 Lights of Christmas Opening Night Mesmerises Audiences

Some of the highlights from the Opening Night of the 2014 Lights of Christmas presented by PAYCE included the spectacular digital 3D light and sound projections at St Mary's Cathedral depicting picturesque imagery around the 2014 theme of "Service", a spirited children's animation on the 12 days of Christmas and images of the Madonna and Child from some of the word's greatest artists.

For the first time, the Lights of Christmas Opening Night featured a special headline production with performances from leading Australian artists Paulini and Mark Vincent, with Sandra Sully as guest MC. Also there on the night to entertain the crowd in the lead up to this year's first Light of Christmas show were the Sydney Boys Choir and George Ellis Choir and Orchestra.

2014 Lights of Christmas Presented By PAYCE To Benefit Iconic Local Charities

This year's spectacular 'Lights of Christmas presented by PAYCE' event at St Mary's Cathedral will benefit two of Sydney's iconic community charities – the Matthew Talbot Hostel in Woolloomooloo and the Brown Nurses Ministry, based in Glebe.

At last night's special charity event attended by a gathering of charity and community representatives, the two charities selected to benefit from this year's event were announced by PAYCE's General Manager, Dominic Sullivan.

All proceeds from the sale of specially chosen Christmas cards displaying stunning images from the light show will go directly to the nominated charities.

PAYCE Chairman, Brian Boyd, also announced that PAYCE will provide the Matthew Talbot Hostel with 300 care packs containing toiletries and other personal care items to distribute.

"PAYCE will also match the proceeds from the Christmas card sales for the Brown Nurses, taking PAYCE's charitable contribution to the two charities to over $20,000," he said.

Mr Boyd said the Matthew Talbot Hostel was a local institution providing specialised support to homeless and at risk people in the community, particularly at times of crisis.

"The hostel has 100 beds available each night for homeless men, as well as providing nutritional meals and day services for those in need," he said.

"Each year, over a quarter of a million meals are provided, while its beds are used around 37,000 times.

"The Brown Nurses have been providing in-home support to socially and economically disadvantaged individuals and families with complex care needs for the past 101 years.

For PAYCE, it's important at this time of year that we give back to charities that directly help the underprivileged, sick and poor in our City" Brian Boyd said.

Kirrawee Oak Road North Aglow For Christmas

The trees bordering Kirrawee's strip of shops on Oak Road North are once again lit with fairy lights to mark the festive season after an absence of several years.

Local businesses on the strip were pleased to hear that PAYCE, who currently has a development application under consideration for the neighbouring former Kirrawee Brick Pit, organised the installation of the lights.

PAYCE Managing Director, Brian Boyd said PAYCE stepped in when it learnt that the lights had not been in place for several years.

"We had a number of discussions with the shopkeepers and local council and many were keen to see them back again," he said.

PAYCE General Manager, Dominic Sullivan said the good news was that we were able to gain the cooperation and approval of all parties and the strip is now aglow with light effects in all of the trees.

"The lights add to the wonderful displays by local residents in home fronts throughout the Shire and help convey the spirit of Christmas.

"Many people like to drive around to see the Christmas lighting displays over the next couple of weeks so they should put Oak Road North on their route," Mr Sullivan said.
