PAYCE sponsorship of the Australian Trans-Am challenge

Motorsport fans who braved the inclement weather at this year's Muscle Car Masters event at Eastern Creek's Sydney Motorsports Park were treated to some outstanding racing over the two days, with the standout being the PAYCE Australian Trans-Am Challenge trophy event.

With the support of PAYCE, the Australian Trans-Am category was making its first appearance outside Queensland as part of the traditional Muscle Car Masters event held each Father's Day in Sydney.

Mr Brian Boyd, Managing Director of PAYCE observes from the Trans Am trackside

PAYCE's Managing Director, Brian Boyd was trackside to meet the teams and see the racing firsthand.

"PAYCE was very proud to be involved as a sponsor in this year's Muscle Car Masters event and it was great to see so many dads and their families around the pits and enjoying the cars and soaking up the atmosphere," he said.

"The rollout of cars in all categories shows how important the heritage and history of our motorsport continues to be and how much it is appreciated by generations of the public.

"The cars were spectacular to watch and besides providing close racing, they looked and sounded fantastic.

"The Trans-Am cars, in particular, were immaculately presented and were a big hit with everyone at the track.

Classic Trans Am

Eighteen classic American muscle cars took part in three Trans-Am races and they put on a great show for the thousands of dedicated fans who ignored the wet conditions to see their favourite cars of the past in action.

Craig Harris drove his Mustang to a well-deserved win in the first race on Sunday, while Ian Woodward in his 1970 Pontiac Firebird took out the next two races, but not before a nail-biting finish in the third event, which saw just four-hundreds of a second separating the first two placegetters.

"Importantly, everyone had a great time in Sydney, the racing was safe and the Trans-Am cars surpassed everyone's expectations for entertainment value," Brian Boyd said.

"Congratulations to Category Director, John English and all involved in putting together a wonderful field of cars and for providing such great entertainment over the two days."

John English said the generous support of PAYCE made it possible to transport the cars and team members to Sydney and back to their Queensland base.
"Judging by the reaction from the fans, our races were a big hit, so we hope to be able to bring our cars back in greater numbers in 2015," he said to the appreciative audience.

Brian Boyd - PAYCE continue support for Australian motor racing

In addition to PAYCE securing the principal sponsor naming rights for the Australian Trans-Am category at the Muscle Car Masters, PAYCE also sponsored the Group N category for Historic Touring Cars.

PAYCE also supports David Wall of Wall Racing who brought along a number of historic touring cars to run and proudly display to the public in a large marquee. The display included the well-known Mustang that won the Australian Touring Car Championship with Ian 'Pete' Geoghegan at the wheel.

Australian Trans-Am

Australian Trans-Am, widely acknowledged as the country's fastest growing motorsport segment, pays tribute to the V8-engined pony cars of the '60s and '70s that competed in the US-based Trans-Am series. Eligible cars include the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, Plymouth Barracuda, Pontiac GTO and Firebird, and AMX Javelin. Strict rules govern engines, gearboxes, tyres and bodywork to keep costs within the reach of privateers.

Brian Boyd and PAYCE are proud to be associated with Australian Trans-Am, we believe they will make an excellent contribution to Australian Motor Racing
