10 June 2015: PAYCE Managing Director, Brian Boyd today said he was thrilled to be part of John Bowe’s successful plan to get top-performing Ford Mustang, ‘Mustang Sally’ and driver, Steve Johnson to Darwin for the next round of the Touring Car Masters in June 19-21.

PAYCE currently supports Australian motorsport and young talent in V8 Supercars and the Dunlop Development Series, Porsche Carrera Cup, Touring Car Masters and Group N touring cars.

John Bowe’s Mustang Sally has been sidelined since its appearance at Symmons Plains in March, when, in John’s absence overseas, it was driven to four outright wins and a new lap record by Steve Johnson.

Due to John Bowe debuting a new Torana SL/R 5000 for friend, Gary O’Brien at the last round at Winton and announcing he would stay in the seat for Darwin to help in the car’s ongoing development, the future of Mustang Sally in TCM was unclear.

Many Ford fans in particular expressed their disappointment through social media and were quick to respond with support when John put forward a plan to ‘fan fund’ Mustang Sally and Steve’s appearance at Darwin.

John Bowe’s enthusiastic and loyal fan base, along with many corporate sponsors, have come on board with sufficient funding to not only get the Mustang Sally/Steve Johnson combo to Darwin, but also to all remaining rounds in 2015.

John Bowe said: “I have to give a special thanks to my long time sponsors, including Brian Boyd and his company, PAYCE, for clinching a deal that makes it possible for us to not only go to Darwin, but also to all four remaining rounds in the second half of the year,” he said.

With PAYCE as the car’s primary sponsor for the Darwin event, the team has unveiled new livery, featuring a fresh look with PAYCE colours.

PAYCE Managing Director Brian Boyd, an avid motorsport supporter, said it was a pleasure to help John achieve his plan.

“I have known JB for many years, and he was genuinely disappointed, particularly for his fans, at the prospect of not taking Mustang Sally to Darwin and other rounds,” he said.

“John always has his fans’ interests in mind and I’m sure they will get lots of satisfaction and entertainment when John and Steve going head-to-head at Darwin and the remaining rounds of the TCM championship.”

John Bowe said he was indebted to everyone who contributed to Mustang Sally’s return and was working on how best to acknowledge their support.

John said he had been ‘blown away’ by the support from all around Australia.

“The response has been overwhelming and I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart,” he said.

“Right from when I put the plan on the table, support started rolling in and with many of my faithful corporate sponsors joining in, we have been able to achieve our goal and surpass all expectations.”
